Tidbits from last weeks message...

What about suffering

Holy Spirit invests into our lives so we can be a blessing... to grow in wisdom and understanding...and Love.

It's about the Importance of ongoing spiritual growth and development of Christ likeness in our heart and mind.

1 Peter 3:17 - ...it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

There is much to be said about how we perceive the intentions of God and His word.

Jesus learnt obedience by the things He suffered. Did He suffer for mistakes made, did He suffer for disobedience? Answer? Neither!

Hebrews 5:8 - though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. Being the Son of God did not exempt Him from the pressures, temptations and sufferings of being human.

Jesus passed through all the degrees of man’s sufferings, so that there is nothing in the sorrows of His saints which He does not know, and is unable to sympathize with them in.

"Innocence is life untested, but virtue is innocence tested and triumphant.

As deity living in a human body, the suffering of Jesus during temptations to sin encompassed His entire life on earth. He did not fail even once, so His obedience had no discipline involved with it as we often endure. Because He didn't suffer for doing wrong.

Jesus was always obedient to the Father's will and never deviated from pleasing God the Father - as He states ... John 8:29 - And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him."

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. John 6:38

We too don't have to succumb to pressures, people, practices that would defy obedience. Jesus would have been faced with all of the pressures we are and yet He did not give in because He kept His focus on the big picture. So many of us give in simply because we lose sight of the big picture.

1 Peter 2:20 - But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.
